7 ways to change your life

Life does not stand still. Everything around us is constantly changing. People also want changes in their lives. However, the hustle and bustle of modern life and daily routine is so overwhelming that sometimes it seems that everything has stopped and every day is similar to the previous one. Life becomes a vicious circle: work-home-work. We plan something, but life makes its own adjustments.

But you can only improve your life by moving forward. And the process of lack of movement, a period of stagnation, often turns into a process of degradation. So don’t just go with the flow! Take the reins of your life into your own hands! If you start implementing the seven points below in your life today, you will see positive changes in a week.

1) Choose «words of happiness».

Happiness is a state of mind. I don’t mean that we can offset an unexpected personal tragedy just by thinking that it is happiness. Rather, I’m talking about how happy we are in our daily routine, when everything in life is more or less stable. It is in this state, when we feel neither elation nor disappointment, that the balance of our life can fluctuate dramatically either in a positive or negative direction. One of the factors that influence such fluctuations is the words we speak.

What we say affects both us and those who listen to us. Sometimes we deliberately use negative language in a conversation. But we only harm ourselves by doing so. Firstly, in the eyes of others, we look unhappy. And secondly, when we say a lot of negative things, over time, our subconscious mind starts to believe what we say. So beware of this and say only what you really feel.

However, what comes to mind first is not always what we really feel. We can say that the glass is half empty or that it is half full. We have a choice, we can choose the words we use, and they will change how we feel.

2) Get out of your comfort zone and try something new.

People are afraid of inconvenience, anxiety, and therefore stand in the way of their personal development. People get «stuck» at a certain stage of their development and try to maintain this state as long as possible. But to make positive changes in your life, you need to go beyond your comfort zone, at least for a while.

Instead of wasting your energy on maintaining this state of calm, you can direct these efforts towards making some positive changes in your life. Routine drains us, and new experiences help us grow and make life more interesting. Make an effort and try to do something new during the week. It can be a completely new activity, or just a small experience of something new to you. And once you get your life off the ground, new life experiences will open up many opportunities to change your life.

With a strategy of taking small steps into new experiences, we can bypass the biggest obstacle to positive change – fear.

3) Help someone in a way that only you can.

God has given each of us strengths and certain talents that can help others. What may be easy for you may be impossible for others. We take our natural talents for granted and often do not pay much attention to them. That is why we rarely use these skills to help others. True inner happiness and zest for life comes when we regularly help others.

Ask yourself the question: What do people thank me for? What do they usually ask me for? And do it more often than usual.

4) Do what you are passionate about

Spend time doing things you enjoy. The type of activity depends on you. You can start participating in the public life of your city, join a religious organisation, or get to know the fan club of your favourite football team. The main thing is that what you do is important and exciting for you, and then such activities can bring happiness and meaning to your life.

Follow the same principles in your career. Why should you be passionate about what you do for a living? Because perseverance and effort are not enough to be successful and happy. Perseverance is important, but what happens if the path you’ve chosen turns out to be more challenging and takes longer than you expected? That’s where being passionate about your work will be the key to success!

Doing things that you are passionate about not only gives you satisfaction, but also keeps you on the right track, even if it is still far from the end. You enjoy not only the end result, but also the process. Passion changes your life, encourages you to move forward, even in the most difficult times.

5) Make small positive changes every day.

How do you move a big mountain? It’s impossible to do it all at once! Only gradually by moving small portions of soil. If you start small, you don’t need much motivation. You just get on with it. The simple act of starting and doing will give you momentum on your way to positive change.

6) Learn the lesson, smile and try again.

True winners cultivate optimism in themselves. They are the source of their happiness. A successful person, regardless of the situation, will find an optimistic way out of it. They know that failure is just an opportunity to grow and learn a new lesson from life. Optimists see the world as a place of endless possibilities, especially in difficult times.

It is important to remember that everything that happens to us is a life lesson. Everyone you meet, every situation you find yourself in, etc. This is all part of the learning process called «Life». Never forget to learn these lessons, especially when things don’t go as you planned. If you didn’t get the job you wanted, or didn’t develop a relationship with someone, it only means that something better is waiting in the future. And the lesson you have just learnt is the first step towards that.

You have to think positively. This is the key to every success. The mind must believe that a thing can be done before you start doing it.

7) Enjoy today.

There is nothing wrong with looking forward to certain things in the future. I’m sure we can all agree that it’s nice to know that good things are coming. But the problem is that when these events we’ve been looking forward to come, we’re already looking forward to the next big thing that’s going to happen in the future.

Many famous actors say something like this when they receive an Oscar: «This means so much to me. I’ve been working all my life to get to this moment…». But the truth is, we have to spend our whole lives working towards every moment. Think about it for a minute. Every moment we’ve experienced, all the ups and downs and everything in between, has led us to the moment we’re experiencing now.

Ask yourself the question: What part of my life have I truly lived? If you are like most people, you will answer «not much». The way out of this situation is to focus a little less on the things we do and a little more on life itself. Remember that only the present moment is guaranteed in this life. This moment is life. Don’t miss it.
